"I want to be so much more than this..." - Jimmy Eat World

I think this may be a long post.

So I finally got my internet fixed. It had been playing up for the last week and I was barely able to do anything but slowly browse Facebook (some say thats all you need the internet for, haha). This meant I had to find other things to occupy my time with, and I decided to fill up my time with TV shows and movies. I finished both seasons of Gossip Girl and Heroes, and I have to say, they both had terrible endings. I was then left with nothing new to watch so I browsed through my collection of old movies. I decided to watch 2:37 again. 2:37 is a movie written and directed by Murali K. Thalluri, who was inspired by a friend who passed away. It depicts the hardships of teenagers growing up through the perspective of different individuals. I have to say, this is one of the best movies I've ever watched, and that's a big statement to make. If you get a chance to watch it these holidays, I highly recommend it and if you can't get a copy of it, I'd be happy to burn it for you.

My Mega-Music update is going to continue with the alternative genre. Judging from the number of downloads from last week, not many are interested. Anyways, a friend of mine recommended an alternative rock band called Jimmy Eat World. I had heard of them before but never actually listened to their songs. I've posted two songs from their Bleed America album and they're probably the only two slow songs on the album, but are my favourites. I've also posted two songs from an English indie/folk artist called Fink. His music is similar to... Fink... lol. Damn I couldn't think of any other artist. There's probably a million out there but I can't think of any. Maybe someone should listen to them and help my mental block (ho ho ho, mind games to make you download my music).

What a roller coaster week it's been. I've given it a lot of thought, and I've decided to stop blogging (for now). I know I'll probably change my mind end up blogging again later in the new year, but I'm going to take a little break. I don't think many people read my blogs anyway so I guess it won't be such a dramatic departure. Thanks to all those who did read it, and thanks for all the contribution. I guess the end of 2008 means the start of a new year...

"I can walk... along this road... without a guide..." - William Fitzsimmons

It's been a pretty big year for me this year and a lot has changed, both good and bad. I've changed university courses, changed jobs and met a whole load of new people. Sometimes things don't seem easy, but what I've come to realised this year, is that there are people along the way that make a difference. Those who are patient and supportive, those who speak words of wisdom (lol, sounds like something from a fantasy game), and those who understand. A lot of people go through life not appreciating true friendship and loyalty, but at seasonal times like these, we see the best in people. So I've decided to alter my NY resolution. In addition to being a 'better communicator', I'm going to be more accepting of help from other people. I've always tried to do things on my own so I could learn to be independent, but doing things alone isn't always the answer. Some things can't be done alone and that's where friends come into the equation.

So this Mega-Music update is going to be an obscure one. It features a lot of artists that aren't very well known, and I wouldn't be surprised if the download counter stays at 0, but I told myself I would so here I go. William Fitzsimmons is an American folk artist who writes very moving music. I've always known him as the guy with the massive beard and from the picture above, you can tell why. He's just released a new album this year called The Sparrow and The Crow, which I have to say is awesomely good (excuse my bad vocab). Anyways, even though the whole playlist of songs are slow and emotional, they are very well produced and meaningful songs. If you had to pick one to listen to, download the Augustana song because they are siQQ (I'm not going to lie, I'm bias). But definately try and check them all out, especially William Fitzsimmons!

Mega-Music
Augustana - Boston (Live)
Bon Iver - For Emma
Mat Kearney - What's A Boy To Do
Mat Kearney - Where We Gonna Go From Here
William Fitzsimmons - Candy
William Fitzsimmons - Everything Has Changed
William Fitzsimmons - I Don't Feel It Anymore (New!)

"Things aint always set in stone..." - Kanye West

Wow, it has been a LONGGGG time since I've properly blogged. Probably because of my mood swings here and there (haha), but I think I'm fine now. This blog is probably going to be a whole load of random stuff to get out of the way so I can go back to more focused blogs.

I finally got my results back last week and they were better than expected. Even though they were good, they aren't where they should be, but I can't complain. I can finally go out and have fun without having to worry. Hopefully I'll get better before Christmas and New Years so I can have a good time. On the topic of Christmas, I'm stumped for ideas for what to get my parents. They aren't very sentimental so something practical is what they want, but they don't do anything either, so there isn't many practical things out there. If anyone has any good ideas, fire away.

On the topic of music, I haven't really found any good songs lately. To be honest, I'm not a huge Kanye fan and I don't think I ever will be. I heard Street Lights last week and I've got to say it's a pretty sick song. I've also heard a 'house' remix to his Paranoid song which is pretty funky, though I haven't heard the original (Kanye fans will probably think it sucks, but I like it). If you're up for emo QQ music, download Jason Reeve's song and if you're up for electro music, check out Digital Primate. I've also chucked in some J.T and T.I, but I don't think it's that great of a track. Maybe it will grow on me later.

Digital Primate - I Ain't Wid It (Acid Jacks Remix)
Jason Reeves - New Hampshire
Justin Timberlake - If I (feat. T.I)
Kanye West - Paranoid (Pocketknife's House Mix)

"The best way to cheer yourself up... is to try to cheer somebody else up." - Mark Twain

Oh man, my luck finally ran out. I haven't been sick all year which is a miracle for me. Usually I'm sick multiple times a year. Hopefully I'll be okay for work tomorrow and I don't cough in everyone's food! And hopefully tomorrow's visit to my favourite bogan parma place won't make me even more sick!

"And I don't want the world to see me..." - Goo Goo Dolls

Ho damn!~ It's been a very long time since I last blogged. I've been hella busy once again, but thankfully it hasn't been study or exams. I've been working heaps over the last week or two and therefore the big bucks are rolling in, but sadly, the big bucks are also rolling out. haha. I think I spent last week's paycheck already and I'll probably end up spending this weeks paycheck too with the bajillion birthdays happening this weekend. I've also had no more than 6 hours sleep every night for the last 8 days or so. My left eye is fked up and still sore/swollen which means I can't wear my contacts properly. Now I have to wear my glasses to work which is a total bitch when they get dirty. Maybe I should stop my whining, have a mugaccino, and HTFU. HAHA!

Thankfully I've got a much needed two day break from work. I'm excited to sleep in, even though I'm still up at 3.30 in the morning, as well as going out to dinner for a change. It has been a while and hopefully it will be a fun night.

Earlier this week, I had a conversation with someone and they were talking about their new year's resolution, which was 'to have a personality'. At first I thought to myself, is it possible to attain a personality? I've always known 'personality' to be something that's relatively unmalleable and enduring, so I asked them why they wanted a 'personality'. Their response was, 'So that others will find me interesting.' It got me thinking. I've never really had a NY's resolution before nor a 'personality', so I've decided on my resolution. I'm going to try and be a better communicator. I've always had trouble talking to people I don't really know well and my responses are always short, sharp and generic which always leads the conversation to nothingness. Maybe then, people can see a 'personality' in me.

PS. I haven't found any cool new songs, so there's no Mega-Music update.
